How Does Water Affect Our World?

Internationally, hydropower plants created about 25% of the world's electricity and supply more than 1.1billion people with power.
The world hydropower plants create approximately 675,000 megawatts approximately equivalent 3.6 barrels of oil.

Collecting oil is much more dangerous to the environment than hydropower plants. For example quite recently an oil rig near the Gulf of Mexico exploded, and an underground pipeline burst leaking oil into the ocean. This oil we use of energy is also killing marine life in the sea, but if we use hydropower plants we will be harming a lot less of animal and marine life.

The way hydropower plants work is by the falling water spinning the generator to create an electric charge. The electric current then goes through a power line where it would be sent to a power plant and sent around the world to be used.
